Priska Daphi is Professor of Conflict Sociology at Bielefeld University, Germany. Her research focuses on conflicts in the context of globalization and migration with a focus on civil society, contentious politics, and social movements. She currently directs a three-year project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) that examines different local reactions to refugees in Germany.

Starting from the "long summer of migration", the polarization of opinions and attitudes towards asylum seekers among citizens of the EU has grown increasingly.
